Who we are

The Hong Kong Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (HKSTRO) is a professional society dedicated to the advancement of radiotherapy (RT) and oncology in Hong Kong. We bring together clinicians, medical physicists, researchers, and allied health professionals who share a commitment to improving cancer care through science, education, and clinical excellence.

Founded to support the growing RT community in Hong Kong, HKSTRO serves as a platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and dialogue between local practitioners and the wider international oncology community.

Our aims

HKSTRO works to strengthen radiotherapy in Hong Kong and beyond. Our aims are to:

Advance RT development in Hong Kong
through public education, academic exchange, and research initiatives that support evidence-based practice and raise awareness of modern radiotherapy among healthcare professionals and the wider community.

Expand the scope and coverage of RT innovations
by promoting access to new technologies, treatment techniques, and quality standards, and by encouraging the adoption of best practices across clinical and academic settings.

Foster international collaboration
in RT research and clinical practice, building partnerships with regional and global societies, institutions, and experts to share knowledge, support multicentre initiatives, and keep Hong Kong at the forefront of radiation oncology.

What we do

To deliver on these aims, HKSTRO:

Organises scientific meetings, symposia, and educational courses for RT and oncology professionals

Supports continuing professional development through workshops, webinars, and society activities

Facilitates academic exchange between members, trainees, and invited speakers

Encourages research and quality improvement in radiotherapy planning, delivery, and patient care

Provides a member network for collaboration, mentorship, and professional connection in Hong Kong

We also work to improve public understanding of radiotherapy—what it is, how it is used in cancer treatment, and how ongoing advances benefit patients.
